What We've got to Work With: John C. Reilly (Talladega Knights), Tim Meadows (The Lady's Man), Jenna Fischer (The Office) Directed by: Jake Kasden
Written by: Jake Kasden & Judd Apatow What They Put Together: It's Blender Time! + Take two parts "Walk The Line" + Add one part "Ray" + A cup of "Forest Gump" + One and a half rubber chickens + A slew of hot cameos + And just a dash of "Boogie Nights" -Throw it all in a blender and set it to medium for 3 minutes -Pour it out on a plate and the final product should look something (if not exactly) like Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, a clever parody of all of the "behind the music" movies released in the last few years.

Walk Hard - The Dewey Cox StoryJohn C. Reilly plays Dewey Cox, a young boy who accidentally chops his incredibly talented brother in half in a freak machete fight accident and must be “double good for the both of em.’” Dewey’s exiled from home for introducing rock music to his home town. He hit’s the road and joins up with a band comprised of Tim Meadows, Matt Besser, and Chris Parnell. They release a smash hit single and are swept into the world of rock stardom.

“Walk Hard” is the funniest parody film I think I’ve ever seen. It is quite possible I’m mistaken, but I can’t remember having that many belly laughs while watching a parody movie. At the same time, this isn’t a clear parody. Its never completely obvious that it spoofs other films and occasions. Without the comedy, this could be another story of a rock star.

You know a movie is funny when it has the Beatles played by Jack Black, Paul Rudd, Justin Long and Jason Shwartzman. One of the best parts of the film is the intense amount of cameos… really good cameos. I myself am a cameo connoisseur and this film sets the bar.

The acting on every end of the film is as perfect as it can possibly be. While you can’t drop the idea that you’re watching a very dumb movie, you get a bit involved with some of the characters and it leaves you feeling somewhat inspired in a very twisted and confusing way.

I once heard a rumor that the writers simply wrote a scene involving full frontal male nudity and built the movie around it - and later “Walk Hard” was released. I don’t know if “Walk Hard” was that movie but rest assured, it’s not for kids. Drugs, nudity, potty mouths, it can all be found here. But if you can stand the heat, I would suggest you come into the kitchen because this is a very funny movie and I would like to see some Oscars come its way… but I’m getting my hopes up.
