It’s opening night for the 163rd edition of the Vermont State Fair. The midway and exhibits open at 5 p.m.

  • The Magic of Lance Gifford & Company is at 5:15 and 9 p.m.
  • The Inlaws Band performs on the Sugarhouse Stage at 5:30 and again at 7:30 p.m.
  • Kachunga & The Alligator Show perform at 5:30 and 8:30 p.m.
  • CyberCycle & Galaxy Girl perform at 6 and 9:30 p.m.
  • Rosaire’s Royal Racing Pigs hit the track for the first time at 6:30 and again at 10 p.m.
  • Featured at 7 p.m. in the Pepsi Grandstand is the Stoney Roberts 4 Cylinder Demolition Derby.
  • Horses, Horses, Horses perform at 7:15 p.m.
  • Victoria’s Circus performs at 7:45 and 9 p.m.

    Admission is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors older than 62, $3 for children 6 to 12 years, and free for children younger than 6. Parking is $3.

    It’s Wristband Night. Ride all night long for $18.

    Saturday, Aug. 30

    This is the first full day of the 163rd edition of the Vermont State Fair.

  • Maple Products will be judged in the Maple Building at 10 a.m., and Grange Exhibit judging will be at 10:30 a.m. in the Bergstrom Building, along with Giant Pumpkin judging.
  • The midway and exhibits open at 11 a.m.
  • Rosaire’s Royal Racing Pigs run at 11 a.m. and 2:45, 6:30 and 10 p.m.
  • Horses, Horses, Horses perform at 11:45 a.m. and 3:30 and 7:15 p.m.
  • Thunder Road Band performs on the Sugarhouse Stage at noon, 2:30, 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.
  • Victoria’s Circus performs at 12:15, 4 and 7:45 p.m.
  • The Culinary Arts Judging is at 1 p.m. in the Bergstrom Building.
  • Kachunga & The Alligator Show perform at 1, 4:45 and 8:30 p.m.
  • The Magic of Lance Gifford & Company is at 1:30, 5:15 and 9 p.m.
  • The 4H Club has three events: Rabbit Showmanship at 2 p.m., Fashion Show at 4 p.m., both in the 4H Building, and Animal Costume Class at 7 p.m. in the cattle arena.

  • Honky Tonk Tailgate Party performs in the Pepsi Grandstand at 7 p.m.

  • Open Dairy Judging (Kiddie Class) is also at 10:30 a.m. Open Dairy Judging (Jerseys, ayrshires and milking shorthorns) is at 11 a.m.
  • The 4H Rabbit Show is at 11 a.m. in the Pet Building.
  • The midway and exhibits open at 11 a.m.

    Today is the fifth day of the 163rd edition of the Vermont State Fair and it’s Dollar Day. Admission is $1 per person, free for children younger than 6, and rides are $1 per ride per person all day.

  • Jonathan Scott & The Blazing Hearts will perform on the Sugarhouse Stage at 1, 3, and 6:30 p.m.
  • Kachunga & The Alligator Show perform at 1, 4:45 and 8:30 p.m.
  • Culinary arts Judging is at 1 p.m. in the Bergstrom Building.
  • Harness racing will be in front of the grandstand at 1 p.m.
