So I slacked off a little on my MySpace write-up, but this one will make it up to you. How cool is the idea of “Scottish kilt-rock from Vermont?”
You have no idea until you check out Prydein from Burlington. Really, I’m not kidding — you’ve got to hear this to believe it.
Listing influences that include AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Slade, Rare Air, Stray Cats, and of course, Dropkick Murphys, their origins go back to a well-known Burlington band, Whiskey Before Breakfast.
Members of the band include Aron Garceau on guitar, vocals and “biting sarcasm”; Iain Mac Harg on bagpipes, flute, whistle and sporting “wicked fast fingers”; Willa Davie plays bagpipes, the whistle and apparently has “common sense” (something lacking in most musicians); Andy Smith not only plays the bass, but also has “a great set of legs” (I’ll take their word on it); Caleb Bronz is the drummer and the one with the “boyish charm.”
In the comments section, “Mistress of Chaos” had this to say: “You guys ROCKED the tent at the New World Festival once again! It was the highlight of my day … Oh, yeah … so happy you really didn’t play ‘Freebird’”
Their next gig listing is at the “Big E” down in Mass., but they’ll be back up this way soon I’m sure.
If you want to be Prydein’s friend, you can find them at www.myspace.com/prydein1.
